DIY Notecard Booklet

Notes of kindness.

Over the years I have collected all kinds of card and notes from family, friends and coworkers - thank you cards, birthday cards, notes of encouragement, the list goes on. However these notecards can only hang out on your fridge or bulletin board for so long. Thanks to Pinterest (greatest invention ever) I came up with an idea of how I could compile all my notecards.

This is just a small pile of the cards I had from work. I had another pile at home to add to these ones.

Use a two hole punch to put holes in the card. Most three hole punches allow you to move the middle punch closer to the end. I would say my holes are about 2-3 inches a part.

Piles of notecards ready for some pretty ribbon.

Of course I used turquoise ribbon (thanks Hobby Lobby) and thread it through the holes. Be sure to leave extra length so you can add more cards.

Boom a little book of happiness. I have alread flipped through my notecard book a couple times. I love rereading all the notes and words of wisdom my friends have given me over the years. Instantly brightens my day!

Two years have flown by

So fast that I almost forget!

Last night, I was thinking jeez I think my two year blog anniversary is about to come up. Sure enough it was on April 3rd! So I'm a couple days behind in thanking everyone for their kind words, comments and motivation.

My blog started out with this very first post, and I can see that my little ole blog has definitely matured and grown during these two years. From my 101 in 1001 list (still working on it), to the Jimmy Johns I Believe quotes, my distaste for Chipolte, completing my Masters of Beef Advocacy, sharing plenty of pictures of cows, a trip to Australia and of course my love of cowboy boots and turquoise, these are all the things that make me who I am.

I hope if you enjoy reading you'll pass Crystal.Cattle onto you friends and family, and if you have  questions about agriculture let me know. I want people to learn about where their food comes, and be able to make educated purchasing decisions. And I can't wait to learn more too! That's the great thing about this blogging community is everyday I meet someone new or expand my horizons a little further.

And keep on following along, you never know what might happen next!

The Farmer's Trophy Wife and Farm Journal

Giving gratitude

What an awesome Friday. First this morning when I woke up I noticed that The Farmer's Trophy Wife had put together a selection of Crystal Cattle style Etsy goods for my birthday countdown. (Check back tomorrow, for more of my favorite things.)

I have no idea how she read my mind so well. Ever since my trip to Australia I have been looking for vintage burlap feed sacks to make pillows out of.

I also was super surprised when I saw this tweet come across in my Twitter feed today.

Thank-you to Anna-Lisa Giannini and Farm Journal for the Follow Friday shout-out. You can read the write up on Agweb.com

Anna-Lisa is an awesome agvocate herself and has recently started working for Farm Journal. It is great to see so many young agriculturist out there.

And finally to Rachel at Ranch House Designs. I have always admired Rachel and all I have to say is...

I have a very exciting surprise for you on Monday! Stay tuned.

Thank-you cards farm style

Just a little note

Ever have one of those days. Well I have been having a few of them. However, today there was a really bright spot.

Yes, that is a stack of thank-you notes that I received from some up and coming young cattlemen, that  participated in the American Royal Calf Scramble.

I think my favorite one is that green one hiding at the back. It said this...
Dear Crystal Young,
Thank-you so much for sponsoring the calf scramble. You have made it possible for me to raise my 1st heifer.
Sincerely, Jake xxxx
There was also a letter from a young lady named Aubrey. She wrote...
I understand that in 4-H or FFA a lot is done by volunteers and sponsors just like you. I want to thank-you for giving me this opportunity to support my livestock goals. I am glad my heifer is doing ok and I can't wait for the upcoming show year. I know this will be a rewarding project and one that I will remember...
I think thank-you notes make the world a better place. I know that's corny and probably should be on a Hallmark card, but I believe it to be true.

And speaking of thank-you cards I am out! Visit my new Crystal Cattle facebook page or post below and tell me what are some of your favorite thank-you cards places.

I thought these would be cute for my K-State friends!
