Corral Boots and Country Outfitter Boot Giveaway

Recently in my post that told the stories of my favorite boots that I mentioned a new pair of black Corral cowboys boots that came from Country Outiffters. Country Outfitters approached me about doing a review on a pair of boots from their amazing selection. Trust me that is my own opinion. They are constantly posting pictures on Facebook all tempting us with their beautiful boots.

Originally, I picked the Luccheese Chelsea Boots. They were amazing and, too slender my foot, so they went back. My second pick was the Corral Vintage Black Python Boots. I am SO happy that these were the boots I ended up with.

Quite a few of my girlfriends own Corral boots, but this was my first pair. I am pretty sure the heifers approve of them too. 

I love the textured inlay on the boots, and although I got the more of a slender square toe, they also have a very similar pair in a pointed toe, the Corral Distressed Lizard Inlay Boot. 

But, beyond the boots being pretty, they are really comfortable. This picture was before we headed off to the National Western Stock Show. For six days I was on cement, and I still thought they were comfortable. It was also nice to wear a cute, but practical pair of boots in the barn, and then be able to wear that the same stylish pair of boots out to supper.

Crystal Cattle Boot Collection Story

Can a girl have too many boots?

The answer to that question is no, but when it comes to making packing decisions a large selection of boots can make it quite difficult. And that is what I am supposed to be doing this weekend, packing for the National Western Stock Show.

Those are my boots. There are actually three pairs missing. So how does one girl accumulate so many boots. Well let me tell you their stories. 

1. Frye Veronica Slouch Boots

Ahhh, I am so excited about my newest pair. The boy completely surprised me with this pair for Christmas. I haven't got to wear them a ton get because I had to return them and get a size bigger. However, the night they came I didn't want to take them off. They literally feel like you are wearing slippers they are so comfortable. Big fan! 

2. Justin Tan Crepe Soles

These are a pair of boots that I got in college. I am pretty sure they came from Nigro's Western Wear (Shawnee Location). Best place to buy boots. even though crepe sole have gone out of style, I still wear these boots a ton because they are comfortable, wore in, and the tannish brown color goes with all my Navy color clothing I love. 

3. Shaynne Boots

Remember these boots from the Boot Barn giveaway. I have said it over and over again these are a keeper. They are definitely my craziest colored boots, and they always get a compliment when I wear them. This summer they put on lots of miles attending all the cattle show I had to go to for work. When your work outfit is jeans and black tops you need a little color in your life. 

4. Corral Square Toe Vintage Black Python

You are going to learn more about these boots next week. This is my first pair of Corral Boots, and they came from Country Outfitters. You know the store that posts the most amazing pictures of boots all over their Facebook page. Corrals live it to their name. This pair is really stylish, and I love the detailed inlay. Also, really comfortable. They kind of have the slipper effect like my Frye Boots. p.s. the reason you are going to learn more about these next week is because I am having a giveaway! 

5. Justin AQHA Ostrich Skin Boots

I LOVE these boots. These boots have by far made the most miles with me. I bought them at Nigro's Western Wear the summer I interned at the American Hereford Association. You know when you are a college student and somehow you think you have all kinds of money after that first pay check. These boots have been resoled more times than I can count. They will always be my go to pair. Similar pair here. 

6. Old Gringo Boots Taka Stud Boot

This pair of boots means a lot to me. They were a Christmas present from the Boy, and I wore them on our wedding day. I remember when I walked into Maverick Western Wear in Fort Worth and saw them. You could't wipe the smile off my face. I had planned on buying the boots myself out of my wedding budget, but the Boy confessed he didn't have my Christmas present and really wanted to buy them for me. I think of the Boy every time I wear these boots.

Turquoise Thursday: Country Outfitter Stop Posting Pictures

We are pleading with you. 

A while ago I liked Country Outfitters on Facebook. Simply put they hands down have the biggest, most amazing variety of cowboy boots. I want to own them all. They take me on these incredible highs, squeals of excitement and then I have to jump off the cloud and tell myself Crystal you can not get yourself another pair of boots (yet). 

So what do I do when I really like something but know I shouldn't buy it. I blog about it. Hoping that one of my readers might treat themselves and I therefore can live through you. Your husbands can thank me for helping you spend your money instead of my own. 

I blame my friend Jenny. I had no idea that these Corral Turquoise Floral Tool boots even existed until she posted them on my Crystal Cattle Facebook Page. Now I can't stop starring. Corral you do a mighty fine job with your boots.

Pumpkin Cheese Cake Muffins and winners announced!

Pinterest wins again.

Last night I went on a bit of a cooking binge. Made supper, pumpkin muffins and raspberry cookies. I took most of it over to the grain elevator so the guys doing harvest could have a treat. One of them asked the Boy how do you get your wife to get start cooking as soon as she gets home from these trips. The Boys response was it just happens! She likes cooking and since she can't when she is on the road she makes up for it when she gets home.

Pumpkin cupcakes are delicious. That is a fact.

The recipe I want to first share with you is a pumpkin muffin/cupcake. I have really been craving pumpkin and since this recipe only had two, I repeat two ingredients I thought they would perfect.

Ingredients needed:
1 Box of yellow cake
1 Can of Pumpkin (15 oz).

Instructions:
Blend two ingredients. Put into muffin wraps and back for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees. I felt like my muffins definitely needed the full 25 minutes.

As an added touch I topped my muffins with some cream cheese icing. I'll admit it, I bought store ready made icing. And it was delicious I might add. I guess this is a pretty popular Weight Watchers recipe. That means healthy right? And it was no big deal that I had two?

Another Boot Barn Cowboy Boot Giveaway

Love these boots. 

Remember this summer when the Boot Barn graciously gave me a pair of Shyanne Boots to try out, and then we gave a pair away to the Crystal Cattle readers. Well the Boy also got a pair of cowboy boots in the deal. Meet Shyanne's brother Cody James. 

These were the Cody James Boots the Boy picked. 

As you can see the Boy went with something a little more conservative compared to my black and red flowered boots, however they have been a great pair of boots for him. The benefits the Boy tells me: 1. he likes that the square toe isn't too wide. You know how some men's boots it looks like there is a big old box on the end of their foot. This boot has slimmer square-toe. 2. Comfort - these boots were made for walking. The Boy has worn his mostly around the farm, and I have wore my Shyanne Boots on the farm, in the city and everywhere in-between. The Booy Barn has comfort figured out!

Always got to get a little dirt on your boots before they are truly broken in.

Raspberry Delight and Cowboy Boot Winner Annouced

My Monday started off pretty alright. First with a big piece of Raspberry Delight (recipe to follow), I actually had to wear a sweatshirt to the barn because the temperature FINALLY dropped, and then we gave the calves their vaccinations and new IDs (it's kind of like them getting ready for back to school. I'll have a post and pictures on it). I love the mornings when I get to be on the farm for a bit before I go into the office.

Now first a recipe, and then I'll announce who won the boots.

Raspberry Delight
I found this recipe on Pinterest and it was a big score in my house. The recipe is originally from Taste of Home, but I wanted to add some of my own commentary.

Ingredients
2-1/4 cups of all purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup cold butter, cubed

Filling
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened (I used 1/3 less fat kind) You can soften it by leaving on the counter, or zapping in the microwave for 20 seconds at a time
1 cup confectioners' suger (powdered sugar)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups whipped topping (I used light)

Topping
2 packages (3 ounces each) raspberry gelatin
2 cups boiling water
2 packages (10 ounces each) frozen raspberries (the recipe says sweetened raspberries, but I used non sweetened and it still tasted great)
Additional whipped topping

Directions
In large bowl, combine flour and sugar; cut in butter until mixture resembles crumbles. Press into an ungreased 13 in x 9 in backing pan. I used my KitchenAid and it was really powdery, but turned out just fine. (I was really skeptical to begin with).

Bake 300 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until set (crust will not brown). Cool on wire rack.

In small bowl, beat the cream cheese, confectioners' sugar, vanilla and salt until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread over crust.

For the topping dissolve gelatin in boiling water; stir in raspberries. Chill for 20 minutes until mixture behinds to thicken. My did not even come close to thickening after 40 minutes. I think next time I'll try a shallower bowl. I still poured it onto the filling really runny, but it firmed up and everything tuned out great. Refrigerate until set.

Boom an amazing dessert.

Crystal Cattle: Shyanne Cowboy Boot Giveaway

These boots are made for walking. 

I was so excited when the Boot Barn contacted me earlier this summer about their Shyanne Cowboy Boots. Not only were the styles beautiful, but they arrived just in time for them to travel across the country on my five week summer work trip.

My new boots on day one. 

I decided that I would pick something a little out of the box, and went with this black pair with the red embroidery. The Boy I think I was shocked that I didn't choose the turquoise pair. They are definitely attention getters, but would they hold up to all the time I would be spending in the barn and on concrete in our trade show booth? 

Absolutely! As you can see from the wear on my heel caps I put some miles on these boots. Hanging out in the barn and standing the majority of the day can do a number on your feet and legs. However, my Shyanne Boots held up just as well to my Justin AQHA boots, and they are considerably less money. Yes, pretty boots are important to me, but so is comfort. 

My boots almost a month and a half later.

Wedding: Let's Talk about Shoes

Put on your dancing shoes. 

Why are wedding shoes so important? I mean no one actually sees them until you kick up your feet on the dance floor to Footloose. Maybe it is because they are one of the wedding accessories you can actually wear again?

I had a hard time picking out what I would wear. I knew I wanted heels for church, and the boots for the dinner and dance so that I could do just that - dance the night away. I was really set on blue shoes for awhile. 

These Royal Blue Wedding Shoes from Nina in particular, but they were pretty high and I was worried that my hem would be too long once I put my boots on. All my bridesmaids were going to wear nude colored shoes, so with a last minute shopping trip in Oklahoma City and spotting these Nine West Nude Pumps my decision was made. 

Even bigger score... these shoes were on sale and are super comfortable. I also wore them at the rehearsal dinner and I took them with me on our honeymoon.

The girls also came with a selection of awesome shoes. I'm trying to remember where everyone got their's from. I know two sets came from Target similar to these ones. The third ones in were my sister's and she got those at Aldo a few years ago. 

However, as I said I really wanted to buy a nice pair of boots for the wedding. I had been dreaming about a certain pair of Turquoise Old Gringos Cowboy Boots that I had been seeing all over on Pinterest. Just before Christmas while visiting the Boy's sister in Fort Worth we walked into a store called Mavericks and there they were. There was no way I was walking out of that store without those boots. I was ready to scoop them up, when the Boy said you know I don't have your Christmas present bought yet. Bing. Problem solved. 

My heels and boots made a nice pair.

However, I wasn't the only one that had boots with me as I asked all my bridesmaids to bring their boots along for a fun picture.

Aren't they a smart looking group of girls! With their boots they are all wearing part of their bridesmaid gifts. Men's black button ups that we had embroidered with there initials. The before the rehearsal dinner you could help my brain was turning to mush as I could figured out whose shirt was cBd - oh right those were going to be my new initials! Their boots are from Corral and Ferrini.

Thursday Thursday: Quincy Freeman Cowboy Boots

Gorgeous!

Hello friends. Don't you love when you find something that makes you smile? Turquoise always makes me smile, and cowboy boots are right on up there. Yesterday, I came across an amazing designer Quincy Freeman. She is only 20 and has amazing talent. No I haven't met her, but pictures speak louder than words. Keep her boots out for yourself.

Like these bad boys. 

My friend Celeste (check her fashion blog posts) owns these boots and posted a picture on Facebook yesterday. They are part of the Quincy Ariat Boot line up, and I think they are awesome. I've never owned a pair of Ariats, but everyone says they are super comfortable. 

I love the detailing on the toe. 

I think these Quincy Cowboy Boots say I want to go dancing! 

I have been looking for a pair of brown cowboy boots. Hmmm. 

p.s. Did I mention it is my Birthday today! If the Crystal Cattle readers want to pool all their funds together for a little gift let me know.

I can wait for this new year to start. I am turning 27 - my lucky number. I leave for Vegas with my sister on Friday. I marry my best friend in just over two weeks! And then it is off to Hawaii for a honeymoon. I have to say I am a pretty lucky girl!

And ladies and gentlemen this is why I love Frank Martin.

Frank Martin knows how to rock the K-State Cowboys. 

And I wonder if Frank Martin's wife was wearing there K-State cowboy boots. Now, for those that aren't K-State fans, I mean I am not really sure why you wouldn't be, but Nocana makes a ton a different college cowboy boots, and a really cool men's square toe style similar to this.

Going Back: NFR and Cowboy Boots

Only a year ago

If you have noticed a lot of tired cowboys and cowgirls this week I might have the solution - NFR. That's right folks the National Finals Rodeo started last week and will wrap up this weekend. It's is like the Super Bowl of Rodeo, however it doesn't come on at night until 9 CST. Late nights, sleepy people. 

This year R3 and I will not be sneaking away to Vegas so I thought we could reminisce a little. Remember these cowboy boots?

Yup, they are still $1,800 and I still don't own a pair.

Oh how I long to wear dresses and cowboy boots, fur vests and all of your jewelry at once without getting any questionable looks. That stuff doesn't fly in the barn yard when cattle are expecting to get fed. However, if you are venturing to Vegas in the next few day you might want to take a glimpse at our NFR Survival Kit.

Hello blogging friends. You may have noticed that I have been a little absent over the last week, so I hope you haven't gotten too tired of looking at the Montana landscape.

This past week I was in Nashville helping with a young leadership conference and then the organization I work for filmed a live show last night. To say the least it has been busy, but I can't wait to share some of the things I have learned with you.

But to begin with, one of my favorite stores I visited in Nashville was Betty Boots. They had an awesome selection of boots, jewelry and clothing. However, with my upcoming trip to Australia I left it all behind. Save, save, save, however that doesn't mean can't admire it.

One of the my new Twitter/Blog friends The Cowgirl Life is hosting a blog carnival this week, and asked me to join. She asked my what does it take to be a real cowgirl, so here is my top five list.

1. Dedication, passion and hard work. Although, much more of my time is spent behind a desk than in a pasture or on a horse, the lessons I learned growing up in agriculture will never leave me. I also, know that even though I might not be the one calving cows or vaccinating calves now, I can share my knowledge with others, to ensure that agriculture's story is being told.

2. A good pair of cowboys boots. If you haven't noticed I kind of have an obsession with cowboy boots. I don't own that many pairs, but I love to window shop. Just search boots at the top of my blog to see all my old posts. You won't be disappointed.

3. A working knowledge of Red Dirt music. All this new country is just not for me. Give me the lyrics of Randy Rogers, Miranda Lambert, Wade Bowen or Gary Allan. They sing about long songs and revenge. This girl also likes to dance so you better know how to two-step.

4. A trip to the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. You really haven't lived until you have been to the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth." The rodeo, chuckwagons, Ag-tivity in the City, and amazing western art show are the highlights for me. My cousin is a chuckwagon driver and will be racing at the Stampede this year. 5. Know how to cook a steak or hamburger. You are going to need some fuel for the fire, so I suggest a serving of lean protein. I really can't stand chicken anymore and would much prefer a beef any day. I love that's it's summer and that means the grill is getting lots of use.

It's been awhile, but I still love cowboy boots.

Even a pair for the boys this time.

My last boot blog was about R3's sister's store The Crystal Boot. Well since then she has created a facebook page will all her stuff.

She also just posted these boots called Ferrini boots, and they are really reasonable priced. I am pretty sure I would have to build a bigger closet if I bought all the boots I talked about. And I might also be in debit. Thanks Mr. Ramsey for keeping me on track.

These are my favorite pair! I love the tops. Isn't funny how we worry about the tops when hardly anyone ever sees them. It's like your own little happy secret. 

And if brown is your color, than these are the ones for you. 

And for the first time ever a pair for the boys. I think my future boyfriend should wear these. But he'll probably have to buy them for himself.
